Adult Support/Discussion Groups

ACO Parent Salon
Meets on a bi-monthly basis at a rotating home for a potluck followed by a discussion on adoption-specific topics (talking with your child about his/her adoption experience, responding to inappropriate questions/comments from strangers). Contact Erika Solberg at 342-1134 for more information.

Florence Support Group
For foster care and adoptive families. The group meets the last Wednesday of the month from

Junction City Support Group
For foster care and adoptive families. The group meets the 2nd Tuesday morning of the month. Contact Shay Crabtree at 520-4521 for more information.

Lane County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association
Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7-8:30 p.m. to hear a speaker.

Oregon Family Support Network (OFSN)
For families with children who have behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges. There are many support groups throughout the state. To enquire about Lane County events contact

International Adoption Family Support Groups

Families with Children from China (FCC)
Meets for Chinese New Year and a summer outing. Information on Chinese dance classes. Contact Jane Williams at 344-0062.

Holt Family Campout
Families (primarily those who have adopted through Holt, but open to any adoptive families) camp out annually at Honeyman State Park during the first week of August. Usually consists of up to 300 people (babies to teens and adult adoptees) from various cultural backgrounds (including Korea, India, Thailand, Russian, China, Paraguay.) Activities include progressive dinners, art projects, treasure hunts, kite flying and hikes. Contact Steve Kalb at 687-2202 for more information.

Holt Heritage Camps

India Sub Continent Adoptive Families
Consists of families with adopted children from India and Srilanka as well as Indian families with birth children. Usually meets monthly. Contact Sue Barnhart at 342-1953 or email jyotisue@yahoo.com for more information.

Inter-racial Family Support Groups

Communities of Color Network (CCN)
CCN is a safe space to meet new people of color. Meets every 1st Friday of the month from

Families Learning About Adopting Inter-racially (FLAIR)
For inter-racial families. Meets once per month, usually at the Friends Meeting Hall on Onyx St. and for activities such as skating and picnics. Contact Ethen Perkins at 345-3944 or email him at epandlk@efn.org

Honoring Our New Ethnic Youth (H.O.N.E.Y.)
Interracial, multiracial, and cultural diversity group meets on 2nd and 4th Saturdays during the school year at 601 W. 13th St. for a potluck followed by arts, crafts, or guest speakers. Moms and Girls Group

Chinese American Benevolent Association (CABA)

International Students of Oregon State University
Provides opportunities to educate students and the community about international issues. The group hosts several events, including China Night, Indonesian Night, India Night, and Vietnamese Night. Linn-Benton Community College's Multicultural Center
Their mission is to provide opportunities for cultural competency, intellectual enrichment, educational access, and social justice. The center offers food demonstrations, video discussions, and has a small library. Contact 541-917-4461 or nguyenv@linnbenton.edu for more information.

Lane Community College Multicultural Center
Student clubs, cultural and educational events, small library. Each year the center hosts a jewish/muslim event celebrating Hannukah and Ramadan, as well as a Native American PowWow. Contact 463-5276 for more information.

Oregon State University's African Students Association (ASA)
Their mission is to educate and share cultural, social, political, and economic issues of the continent with university students and the community. Playgroups

ACO Pinecone Playgroup
For children ages 1-4 and their parents. Meets once a month on a Saturday morning (10:30 – 12) in a member's home to play and get to know each other. ACO Pine Tree Playgroup
An activity group that meets once a month to focus on fun, educational, and interesting group activities for our adopted children and siblings aged 4 and older. Please contact Elise at elisecrum@comcast.net or 345-4209.

Rainbow Rascals

Single Adoptive Parent and Child Playgroup

Vietnamese Playgroup
Meets every 6 weeks during the year. Children range from ages 4 – 10. Consists of families with adopted children from Vietnam - but also some Vietnamese birth children. Meetings during the winter months are held at Crawfordsville Elementary School gym (6 miles east of Brownsville) from 11:00 - 2:00 with a potluck.
